Discussion on informatization of carton manufacturing industry

I. The Evolution of information technology and enterprise electronization

in the past two decades, the development of information technology has advanced by leaps and bounds. From the 1970s, it was dominated by mainframe computers to the 1980s, when microcomputers were widely used. In the 1990s, the combination of client server and e-commerce began in 2000. The rapid development of information technology is unimaginable. In fact, the process of enterprise electronization is an evolutionary process, as shown in the right figure

reviewing the evolution of enterprise electronization in the past 20 years, its biggest characteristics are:

1. Computer software has evolved from generalization to specialization or industrialization

early computer systems were mainly used for data processing, such as accounting, document printing and order processing. At that time, commercial software had high versatility. For example, accounting software could be used in various industrial industries. Since the late 1980s, the computer integrated manufacturing system has focused on helping manufacturers improve productivity and provide manufacturers with value-added services. The corresponding commercial software must be professional, such as production scheduling. At the same time, software developers must have a deep understanding of the industry in order to informatization the business process. It often happens that business software that has been successfully used in one industry may not be able to follow suit in another industry. Successful industry software developers must have deep knowledge of the production and management of the industry

2. Integration and re integration

computer integrated manufacturing system is different from the early data processing system in its function of information integration. With the rapid development of computer hardware and software, information integration has reached a crisscross and orderly stage

in general, there are three levels of integration:

Business Process Integration: the integration of various departments within the enterprise. For example, product design, order input, production scheduling and other departments of information and decision-making integration

production process integration: This is the integration of all departments within the enterprise with the production line control system, forming a one-stop process of order, scheduling and production. Automatic information transmission and conversion process from order input to production schedule, and then to machine tool controller. The whole process can be completed in a few minutes, and the whole delivery cycle is only a few hours

external integration: This is the integration of the internal departments of the enterprise with the corresponding systems outside the enterprise (customers and suppliers). E-commerce (e-commerce) is this kind of integrated tool, forming a direct link between customers, warehouses and factories. Customers can check the progress of each order through Internet, such as order input, production, inventory, delivery, payment records, etc. It is easy for customers to check the records of different departments of the company, query and exchange information. Extranet, a tool for different companies to share information through Internet, makes it possible to provide customers with perfect services and help them achieve their business goals. The popularity of Internet also makes the operation cost popular

Second, computer integrated manufacturing system for carton manufacturing

information technology is a powerful weapon for carton manufacturing to achieve low cost and high efficiency. Figure 1 shows the schematic diagram of the computer integrated manufacturing system of the corrugated box factory

the main software modules in the computer integrated manufacturing system are:

CAD aided design: some software systems, such as artios, IPDS, LaserComb, etc., provide and allow users to establish their own graphic library of carton design and mold, and also provide sample data of famous brand machine tools

product structure (BOM billofmaterials) and processrouting design: give a special software system for carton manufacturing, such as cimpack, to assist users in classifying their products, and allow users to establish typical product structure and typical process flow for each product. When customers order new products, users can call out typical designs for modification, which greatly shortens the preparation cycle before production

order and delivery management: the computer system can evaluate the new product according to the material, specification, size, complexity of process flow, etc. The application of computer integrated manufacturing system can effectively arrange and record the production, inventory and delivery of gap broaching machine, especially the order of just in timedelivery. In this way, the sales department can see the progress of each order from the computer at any time, so that it can take action as soon as possible for events that may deviate from the plan

computer aided job scheduling: according to the delivery date of the order, the required materials, the production capacity of the machine tool, and the computer scheduling system will automatically generate the job schedule. The production dispatcher will modify it on the electronicplanningboard according to the actual situation of the workshop and the emergency order. A good work schedule can effectively reduce the loss of base paper, reduce downtime and frequency, and ensure the delivery date

base paper management: different from general inventory management software, the base paper management system can be specific. 3. The tension machine and other equipment used in the experiment can be used to the storage location and production consumption of each roll of paper, and it has automatic conversion between length, weight and diameter. Usually, the purchase cycle of base paper is much longer than the delivery cycle of cartons, and the computer system can also predict the demand for base paper in the future

it must be emphasized that industry software can meet many special needs of the following carton manufacturing industry, while general MRPII/ERP software is difficult to achieve:

1 The built-in functions and devices can help customers minimize the preparation work and time before production

the preparations before production include: a) determining the inventory, b) generating the manufacturing list BOM, c) determining the process (process flow). d) Enter the order and pass it to the production department. For general MPRII/ERP/SCM software, these tasks usually need several modules to deal with. But for the packaging industry, especially the corrugated box manufacturing industry, their products and processes are relatively simple. It is best to combine these tasks and complete them by one person in a very short time

2. Just after an order enters the system, it is scheduled and pre scheduled for production

this requires an investment of 3.178 billion yuan in the order agreement to be completed by the corrugated machine; The three tasks of projects with more than 1billion yuan are grouped and sorted according to the paper roll width and paper type; Sort the order tasks to be completed by the printing machine according to the ink order to reduce the number of ink replacement; Insert an urgent task into today's scheduled production schedule or delete an order task from the scheduled production schedule. Most MRPII or ERP software can only support infinite capacity planning, but can't do anything about continuous pre scheduling

3. Support just in time delivery (JIT)

this requires tracking the status of semi-finished products in production; Track the quantity and location of finished products (many warehouse management modules can only track the location); Delivery scheduling can maximize the use of transportation capacity resources (few MRPII or ERP software have this transportation management function); Flexible delivery note formats and invoice formats can meet the different requirements of customers (some customers need to compile a batch of deliveries into a delivery note to reduce paper operations)

4. Accurately predict paper roll demand

due to the long purchase time of base paper and the short delivery time of customers, the demand for raw materials is no longer determined by orders, but needs to be predicted (which means that the MRP technology - the core of MPRII or EPR software is no longer applicable)

5. It can freely deal with events that are special to other industries and common to carton manufacturing industry

for example: a) complete set delivery. For example, one RSC carton and two plug-ins must be delivered in sets. At this time, individual pieces, such as RSC cartons and plug-ins, have the following dual definitions: if the customer orders by set, RSC cartons and plug-ins must be defined as semi-finished products; If the customer sends an order by a single piece (such as 100 plug-ins), it will be defined as a finished product

b) corrugated machine scheduling and printing machine scheduling. No MRPII software can handle the scheduling requirements of corrugated box production

c) cost - material cost, process cost, tool cost, etc. The unit of measurement shall be $/mt, $/sqm, $pass, etc. No MRPII software has such measurement units and functions for automatic calculation and conversion

III. factors to be considered in the introduction of information technology

the introduction of information technology, especially the implementation of computer integrated manufacturing system, must be planned in detail. Among them, the main considerations should include:

software performance and users: computer integrated manufacturing system is very complex, and there are many molding systems on the market. Now factories rarely develop their own software, but buy software and seek training and assistance from software vendors. Because the hardware, software and implementation costs of the whole system are expensive, it is very important to choose a system suitable for the company's business environment and budget, as well as reliable performance. Because of the complexity of computer integrated manufacturing system, it is impossible for the factory to evaluate and test every function before implementing a system. A feasible way is to prepare several typical information processes and data of the company and test the processing method of each system. At the same time, evaluate the number of existing users of each system, the satisfaction of users, and the similarity with the company's business

Business Process Reengineering: computer integrated manufacturing system has many functions of information classification, decision support and cost control, such as product design, job planning, demand forecasting, etc. To make full use of the functions of the system to promote business and improve competitiveness, users must analyze the company's business situation, organizational structure, management methods, decision-making process, relationship with customers and suppliers, etc. And make necessary improvements and even reorganization, so that the computer system can be organically combined with the operation and management of the company

the purpose is to improve competitiveness: finally, it should be emphasized that no matter what management methods or computer systems are introduced, every employee should make it clear that the purpose is to improve the competitiveness of the company. Only in this way, the system can be implemented smoothly and users can maximize the role of the system
